Today, the official team behind the sequel to the classic xianxia IP, *The Legend of Sword and Fairy IV: Remastered*, released the official trailer titled “The Way of Heaven Is Unpredictable.” The trailer was exclusively premiered by Bilibili UPsoftware and topped Bilibili’s trending list within an hour of its release, drawing widespread attention from the gaming community.

*The Legend of Sword and Fairy IV: Remastered*, developed by UPsoftware and published by Cube Games, is a turn-based single-player RPG. Built on the Unreal Engine 5, the game features technical upgrades to the original’s core content. Players will join protagonist Yun Tianhe and his companions on a “Journey to Seek Immortality” to uncover long-buried secrets of the immortal world. The trailer also revealed the voice cast for the main characters: Yun Tianhe is voiced by Gu Jiangshan, Han Ling Sha by Liu Xiaoyu, Liu Mengli by Du Qingqing, and Murong Ziying by Jin Xian. Xuan Xiao, Su Yao, and Chan You are voiced by Sang Yuze, Ruo Jin, and Xiao Mi, respectively.
As the original title upon which this remake is based, *The Legend of Sword and Fairy IV*, released on August 1, 2007, is a classic of the series—developed by Softstar Technology (Shanghai) and published by Universe Star. Centered on the theme of “seeking immortality,” it tells the story of Yun Tianhe, a young man from the mountains, who befriends Han Ling Sha, a tomb raider; Liu Mengli, the heiress of Shouyang;and Murong Ziying, a disciple of the Qionghua Sect. Together, the four embark on an adventure to unravel the mysteries of their origins and the secrets of the immortal sects, ultimately coming to understand the truth that “to seek the Way of the Immortals, one must first cultivate the Way of Humanity.” This title marked the series’ first use of 3D life-size character models. It sold approximately 300,000 copies domestically within its first week of release and was honored with the “2009 Top Ten Most Popular Standalone Games” award at the 2010 China Game Industry Annual Conference’s Golden Phoenix Awards.

Since news of this remastered version broke, player feedback has been mixed: on the one hand, many longtime fans have expressed that it “truly evokes nostalgia,” looking forward to seeing the classic storyline rendered in next-gen graphics; some players have even insisted that “the main menu BGM must retain ‘Dream of Immortals’” and that ““Murong Ziying’s entrance must feature ‘Ode to the Canglang Sword’,” highlighting their commitment to preserving the original’s details; on the other hand, some players expressed concerns, believing the game might suffer from “insufficient optimization” and “rough textures,” while also complaining about “excessively high system requirements,” stating that “the CPU and GPU can’t handle it” and “it uses up 100GB of storage at the drop of a hat,”while some players have raised questions about the track record of the game’s developer and publisher.

At present, no specific release date has been announced for *The Legend of Sword and Fairy IV: Remastered*. The game’s final visuals, optimization, and gameplay details are still to be revealed by the developers, and fans of the series as well as single-player game enthusiasts will continue to follow future updates.
