Not a mobile game: Tencent once kept a new console version of "Assassin's Creed" under wraps

According to foreign media reports, Tencent’s TiMi Studio Group had been developing a new mainline *Assassin’s Creed* title for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, but the game may have been canceled as early as the beginning of 2025. However, this report comes from a single source and has not been corroborated by other media outlets.

This new game, developed by Ubisoft in collaboration with TiMi Studios, is titled *Assassin’s Creed: Destiny*.The game is set in the turbulent final years of the Qin Dynasty in 206 BC, nine years later than the events of *Assassin’s Creed: Jade* (a mobile game developed by TiMi Studios), and the storylines are independent of one another.

In the currently disclosed demo (a February 2025 prototype), a female assassin infiltrates a temple besieged by Xiang Yu. The demo features an early version of the Xiang Yu boss battle, an umbrella-shaped spinning weapon, ink-wash-style skill icons, and a Yin-Yang emblem UI.There is also a sequence showing a male character performing parkour, suggesting the game may offer a choice of gender.

Tianmei Cancels the Game Following a Restructuring

In January 2025, Tencent Games officially announced the reorganization of the TiMi Studios Group, consolidating more than ten studios into four major R&D sub-studios—J1, L1, J3, and T1—as well as Z1 Studio, which focuses on incubating innovation, and G1 Studio, which was responsible for global products (later dissolved).

F1 Studios, which has teams based in Los Angeles and Seattle in the U.S., Montreal in Canada, and Singapore, has been merged into J1.

Around the same time, development on *Assassin’s Creed: Destiny* was halted.

In March 2026, Ubisoft mentioned in its official blog post, “Assassin’s Creed: Into 2026,” that “some early projects were scrapped”; perhaps *Destiny* was among them.

Meanwhile, although *Assassin’s Creed: Jade* was announced several years ago, its development status remains unclear. According to a previous report by Reuters, staff from the *Assassin’s Creed: Jade* team were temporarily reassigned to support the *Yuan Meng Zhi Xing* project. In March of this year, Ubisoft confirmed that *Assassin’s Creed: Jade* is still in development.

As “Assassin’s Creed” is Ubisoft’s most valuable core IP, both Tencent and Ubisoft are approaching the new title with great caution.

In March 2025, Tencent invested 1.16 billion euros in Vantage Studios, a newly established subsidiary of Ubisoft that holds the rights to three core IPs: *Assassin’s Creed*, *Rainbow Six*, and *Far Cry*.
