This evening (the 12th), Xunhuiquan (Jia Chen), the original producer of *White Night Aurora*, posted a message on his personal Weibo account stating that he “has now left the company, and the core team is open to opportunities.” He added that they are open to “either continuing existing projects or custom projects based on demand.”
According to Game Teahouse, Moquan Technology has laid off its employees and has, in effect, dissolved. This means that Beijing Moquan Technology, which was founded three years ago, has effectively come to an end, and its core team is now seeking new opportunities.

The news came as quite a surprise. Just last week, Moquan Technology was still recruiting players in Beijing for an in-person trial of a large-scale multiplayer tactical cooperative action game, and Xunhui Quan himself reposted the recruitment Weibo post, stating that he was “looking forward to valuable feedback.” Although the testing is still underway, the studio is already on the verge of disbanding.
Moquan Technology was one of the most talked-about gaming startups over the past two years. In the spring of 2023, Xun Huian left Yonghang Technology, a subsidiary of Tencent, and founded Beijing Moquan Technology with several key members, including OT, the producer of the “QQ Dance” series, and CTO Zhang Shouzhao. At the time, his goal was clear: to create “a product that’s both substantial in scale and pretty cool.”
In April 2024, Xunhui Dog unveiled its first product, *Code Name: Moquan No. 1*, in a mid-year recap video: a 2D-style 3D ARPG developed using UE5, featuring open-world exploration and multiplayer PVE elements, with a visual style jokingly referred to as the “3D version of White Night Aurora.”
However, the project did not get very far after it was made public. In June 2025, several media outlets reported that development of the project had been halted because investors believed there were too many similar projects and were not optimistic about its commercial prospects. About half of the team was laid off, while the other half remained to work on a new project.
After scrapping its anime-style project, Moquan Technology shifted its focus to a realistic-style multiplayer action game, with art inspired by light fantasy-realism titles such as *Final Fantasy XVI* and *Elden Ring*. The world-building poster features sci-fi elements such as Earth, the Moon, and ring-shaped structures. This game is the new title that will be available for offline playtesting starting in July.

A New Work That Never Saw the Light of Day
Unfortunately, the transition did not bring about a turnaround. From 2D ARPGs to realistic multiplayer action games, Moquan underwent two shifts in direction in less than two years, yet it has still been unable to produce a product capable of sustaining a viable business model.
For the core team behind “Following the Roaming Dog,” this marks the second time they’ve missed out on their “dream project.”*White Night Aurora* once set the standard in the 2D game sector with its top-tier art style and character design, but due to its niche gameplay and lack of staying power, both the Chinese and international servers shut down successively between late 2024 and early 2025.After leaving Tencent to start their own venture, the Tour Dog team first faced setbacks in the anime-style game genre, and then disbanded during the alpha testing phase of a realistic action title. It’s truly a shame.
