Early this morning, Microsoft held its first Xbox Developer Showcase of 2026, highlighting four games set to launch later this year. Development teams from Playground Games, Game Freak, and Double Fine showcased *Fable*, *Forza Horizon 6*, *Beast of the Cycle*, and *The Kiln*, respectively. Each game featured new footage, behind-the-scenes development insights, and the latest updates on release dates. Here is a summary of everything announced during the event:
1. *Forza Horizon 6*
Set in Japan, this game will feature the largest and most densely packed map in the series’ history, complete with vertical spaces, diverse terrain, seasonal changes, and a breathtaking driving experience. At launch, the game will offer up to 550 vehicles for players to choose from—the largest selection in the series to date—including the cover vehicles: the 2025 GR GT Prototype and the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser.

In an interview, Design Director Torben Ellert stated that in *Forza Horizon 6*, you don’t start the game as a professional racer, but as a tourist with a dream—the dream of one day competing in the Horizon Festival held in Japan. This is slightly different from previous games in the *Horizon* series; In *Horizon 4*, you made a name for yourself on the tracks of the UK; and on the Mexican circuits of *Horizon 5*, you had already reached the pinnacle of the career you built at the end of the previous game. *Horizon 6* feels almost entirely fresh, appealing not only to car enthusiasts but also to anyone with big dreams.

One of the game’s highlights is the estate system, which offers a larger plot of land where players can purchase and construct virtually any building they desire. By winning matches, delivering tofu, and exploring the world, you can earn in-game points in a variety of ways, and eventually, you’ll own a world that you’ve not only built but also earned.

The game will launch on PC and Xbox on May 19, with players who purchase the Deluxe Edition gaining early access on May 15. The PlayStation 5 version is expected to follow, though a specific release date has not yet been announced.
2. *The Beast of Reincarnation*
This is a brand-new action game from Game Freak, the developer of Pokémon. The new trailer provides a detailed look at the game’s story, combat system, world setting, and the interactions between the protagonist, Emma, and her partner, Koo.Set in a post-apocalyptic Japan, players take on the role of Emma, a woman afflicted by the Calamity who possesses the ability to seal the Calamity within her body and purify infected creatures. After encountering Koo, a wolf-like creature also afflicted by the Calamity, the two embark on a journey together with the goal of defeating the legendary Beast of Reincarnation.

Players can control Emma to engage in close combat with a katana or launch ranged attacks with a bow. Koo possesses a special ability that, when activated, slows down the passage of time and opens a menu similar to that of a turn-based RPG, allowing players to select their next move.
The game will also offer three difficulty settings: Story Mode, which focuses on the experience; Normal Mode, which offers standard gameplay; and Hard Mode, designed for players seeking a challenge.

*Beast of Reincarnation* is scheduled to launch this summer on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, and will be added to the Xbox Game Pass library on the day of release.
3. *Kiln*
In this game, you can use various tools to sculpt pottery: sponges, molders, scrapers, your bare hands, and more. Players can craft pottery of all shapes, sizes, and types with their own hands. The pottery you create can be directly transformed into controllable combat characters and thrown into the chaos of 4v4 battles. Cups, bowls, and vases have different combat styles; larger pots can hold more water to extinguish fires, but they move more slowly.Smaller, flatter pots have sharper edges and can deal greater damage to enemy pots. The battlefield features tunnels and passages that only pots of specific shapes and sizes can navigate. Each pot’s movement and attack patterns depend on how it was crafted, and each also possesses unique special abilities based on its shape.

*The Kiln* is set to launch on Xbox, PS5, and PC in the spring of 2026 and will be added to the Xbox Game Pass library on the day of release.
4. *Fable*

As the highlight of this developer conference, Playground Games has assembled a new team to create this *Fable* reboot—their first foray into open-world action role-playing games. They also stated that this is a true open world where you can freely explore anywhere you want right from the start. The story is set in a world called Albion, where you play as a child raised in a peaceful countryside who, after losing everything, gradually grows into Albion’s first hero. Playground defines the “living population” as 1,000 NPCs, each going about their own lives. You can engage in fully voiced conversations with them. You can even hire them to work for your business or evict them as a landlord. As part of a brand-new reputation system, they will also judge your actions, and the consequences of your choices and reputation will impact the entire world. The showcase video also featured character customization, the combat system, and some interaction mechanics, as well as gameplay elements such as purchasing houses and dating villagers.

The game is scheduled to launch on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5 in the fall of 2026.
