WeChat Mini Games has officially announced that it will upgrade its in-app purchase (IAP) incentive policy effective January 1, 2026. By increasing incentive amounts and optimizing revenue-sharing ratios, the platform aims to support developers in creating high-quality content and promote the long-term development of the Mini Games ecosystem.

The core of this new policy focuses on “newly launched games,” providing them with dual incentives covering both the “launch period” and the “growth period”: During the launch period, the comprehensive incentive rate exceeds 100%, and the cap on incentive funds for a single game’s launch has been raised from the original standard to 4 million yuan. Furthermore, the monthly cap has been removed, meaning that the first 10 million yuan in revenue from a newly launched game can fully benefit from the high incentive rate;At the same time, a new “Launch Growth Incentive” has been introduced: for games in the launch phase, the platform will provide an additional 5% cash incentive for every 2 million yuan in IAP revenue generated within the past 30 days, with no upper
limit. Regarding long-term revenue, the new policy further increases developer revenue: after a new game reaches 10 million yuan in revenue, the revenue-sharing ratio between the platform and the developer will be adjusted from the original 3:7 to 2:8, effectively boosting developers’ long-term earnings.

The scope of the new policy is clearly defined: new games released after January 1, 2026, will be automatically included;Existing games released before January 1, 2026, with monthly revenue never exceeding 10,000 yuan, as well as existing games released during the same period that have had monthly revenue exceeding 10,000 yuan but cumulative revenue less than 100,000 yuan, may manually opt in via the "MP-Virtual Payment-Ad Revenue Management-New Game Incentive Fund" page between January 1 and 20, 2026. Those who do not opt in by the deadline will remain under the original policy.
According to official data, WeChat Mini Games currently have 500 million monthly active users, with average daily online time up 10% year-over-year. The platform has served over 400,000 developers, 80% of whom are small and medium-sized teams with fewer than 30 members. WeChat stated that the new policy aims to help developers enter a “positive commercial cycle,” and the platform will continue to support developers through technical, operational, and commercial assistance.
For developers who do not participate in the launch, WeChat clarified that they will still be eligible for existing policies such as cash revenue sharing, basic incentive funds, and growth incentive funds, and that this will not affect their normal operations or revenue generation.
