The "Spotlight 21-Day Game Creation Challenge" is an online GameJam event organized by TapTap.

Since registration opened for the second TapTap Spotlight GameJam, the organizers have received an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response that far exceeded expectations. According to reports, thousands of creators with dreams of making games have already formed teams to register, and inquiries continue to pour in.

In response to the overwhelming enthusiasm for the competition, and to give participants more time to recruit like-minded teammates, TapTap has decided to extend the registration deadline from September 28 to October 8. By taking advantage of the National Day holiday, we hope to allow more indie game developers to form teams, pool their resources, and participate in the competition with confidence!

Traditionally, a Game Jam is an "extreme challenge" for game developers—creating a uniquely creative game within a limited timeframe based on a given theme! Despite the extreme conditions of tight deadlines and high pressure, indie game creators enjoy nearly unlimited freedom and a burst of inspiration.

In the first edition of the competition, the organizer, TapTap, received over 800 game submissions and recorded more than 1.72 million trial plays. Under the spotlight, every indie game developer can showcase the creative works they’ve nurtured over 21 days to the public!

The appeal of GameJam lies in its openness to everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned developer or a student just starting out in game development; whether you’re part of a full team or a lone wolf still looking for teammates—what matters here is the quality of the idea, not the creator’s background. The organizers note that great game ideas can come from anywhere, and their mission is to ensure that these glimmers of inspiration are not overlooked.

What does this opportunity mean?

Unlike many game jams that conclude immediately after the awards ceremony, TapTap has specifically designed a full 21-day cycle. This is not only to ensure the games reach a higher level of polish, but also because TapTap has planned a path of ongoing support for outstanding entries that extends beyond the competition itself—including the opportunity for official launch and operation.

Following the first GameJam, TapTap has established close partnerships with more than a dozen participating titles and, together with their creators, is stepping onto a broader stage.

This year, the TapTap Spotlight GameJam has undergone a comprehensive upgrade in its competition standards, with a total prize pool of 1.5 million yuan. The event features multiple awards, including Best Game, Best Creativity, and Most Popular, designed to allow creators to fully leverage their strengths within a short timeframe and highlight the standout features of their short-form games.
